We all experience discomfort in one way or another which may affect us at some point in our lives. It may be our health, financial difficulties, death of a loved one, marital problems, barrenness, loneliness and others. Sometimes it is even difficult to express our situation to someone because they might not understand the way we feel inside us. The sense of our discomfort can be overwhelming, and we wonder how we can come out of it. God seeks to comfort His people whenever and wherever they are hurting (Isaiah 40:1). In 2 Corinthians 1:4-5, Paul and other faithful Christians were in trouble. It seemed like there was no help from anywhere for them. For most of them, the trouble would continue until they died, but God in His mercy comforted them so that they were also able to comfort others. God’s mercy and comfort is upon us in our helpless state. Problems and afflictions are not pleasant when we are facing them, and we just wish all would be over but God comforts us in our troubles. Why? Because God wants us to experience His love and help. When we are able to rely on God fully in distressful times, we recognize that regardless of what we are going through, we feel God’s presence with us. Whatever kind of trouble you are suffering right now, the highest comfort is found in God. Focus on God, even through the toughest times. As you allow your Maker, Deliverer, Redeemer, Provider, Protector, Saviour to take His position in your life, you’ll see yourself receiving divine comfort. “Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).
Devote yourself to the Lord through His Word, through prayer and He will certainly console you, soothe you, cheer you up, and strengthen you so you can do the same for someone.
