Depending on the Lord
Psalm 91:14-15 says: “Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him”. Sometimes bad news comes in different forms; it can be a letter from the doctors, P45 from a work place, telephone call of a dear one, e-mail etc. When we receive such news what do we do? In 2 Chronicles 32:1-22 Sennacherib king of Assyria came in great strength to invade Judah and laid siege to Jerusalem. He wrote letters to threaten King Hezekiah and his people. When Hezekiah received the letter from his messengers, he went up to the house of the Lord, spread the letter before the Lord and prayed; and the Lord delivered him. Also God said to Moses in Exodus 3 He was going to deliver Israel from the hands of the Egyptians. Moses asked the question about God’s identity. God’s answer to Moses was very simple “I AM THAT I AM” (Exodus 3:14). God was saying to Moses not to worry about Pharaoh or anything but just to let Israel know that He is the Almighty God who can do everything. He is more than able to take care of anything. When we receive unexpected news, we should not panic but prayerfully ask the Lord what we need to do. When we honour God for who is; He will respond to us as He has promised in Psalm 91:15. He will answer us, deliver us and satisfy us. Spread your bad news before God, and He will give you good news.
