At some point in our lives, we experience a feeling of insecurity. We become insecure of ourselves, our job, our house, a dear one, money, business, and many more. Insecurity means being unstable, uncertain or lacking confidence. Insecurity could be a result from wrong experiences we experience in life such as people picking on us which could end up damaging our self-esteem. Insecurity can make a person miserable. Sometimes we ask questions like if God sees all misfortunes that occurs to us, why does He not do anything about it. Gideon asked the same question in Judges 6:13 when the Midianites were mistreating the Israelites. Sometimes God allows us to go through some situations to bring us out from our fear and our insecurity. Three times, God had to show Gideon a sign that He has promised to be with him to conquer their enemies that have been oppressing them. But Gideon would not believe God until he was finally convinced that He had given them victory (Judges 6:13-40). Gideon did not believe he had what it takes to accomplish the job God was asking him to do. He saw himself as inadequate. For us to overcome insecurity, we need to change the way we think, feel and believe in ourselves. We must take our focus off what we believe we cannot do or have and put our total trust and faith in God to help us. God loves us so much and wants us to be filled with His power, love and sound mind to enjoy the life He has given us. We are beautifully made and must therefore stop going around looking for people’s approval. All other things in which we place our trust can fail, but God will never fail us. We must have faith in God and be strong to know that where we have fallen, God will help us to rise up again.
